Newcastle TV ratings week 39, 2008
We seem to be stuck in a holding pattern on Newcastle TV at the moment. Every week the overall results are much the same. NBN, miles ahead. Prime second. TEN Third. Prime had 3 shows in Top 10. NBN had the rest.
We need something to spice up the viewing habits of the Hunter.
Newcastle Television ratings, week 38, 2008
Very few changes this week in the Newcastle TV ratings race. NBN maintains a healthy 12.9 point lead over Prime, who in turn leads SC TEN by 3.7 points.
NBN had seven of the top ten programs for the week, with Prime the other three.

Newcastle TV ratings week 37, 2008
While the Nine Network has struggled since the Olympics against a resurgent Seven, the trend hasn't translated as strongly through to Newcastle viewing habits.
Last week NBN won handily again, with a 12 point lead over Prime, despite individual programs performing quite well for the Seven affiliate station.
Prime and NBN shared the Top 10 programs evenly while SC TEN was nowhere to be seen. Interestingly, the NRL numbers have disappeared from the Top 10 despite the finals season just beginning.

NBN held an 8 point lead over Prime last week, with SC TEN another 4 points further back. While NBN is still dominant post-Olympics, it is worth noting that Prime's new programs have definitely performed well. Packed to the Rafters, City Homicide, Criminal Minds and Find My Family have all jumped into the weekly Top 10.

Newcastle Television ratings week 35, 2008
While Nine seemed to struggle nationally last week against Seven's new programs, everything returned to normal in Newcastle with NBN back on top and Prime back with the same figures they had prior to the Olympics.
Mind you, it wasn't as clear-cut as the total ratings figures would have you believe. While NBN was a clear 7 points ahead in the ratings, they only had 4 of the Top 10 programs for the week. Prime had 5 and SC TEN had 1 Top 10 program.
Prime will be encouraged by the stronger audiences, especially for new shows Packed to the Rafters and Find My Family. SC TEN will be buoyed by the return of Australian Idol which helped them close the gap significantly on Prime.
Next weeks results will be more telling though. NBN will have Scorched and The Strip plus final round of Friday Night Football to be included, while Prime will be seeing who is sticking around for week 2 of their new programs.

The Beijing Olympics produced the expected ratings win for Prime, but the second week wasn't nearly as convincing as the first for the Olympic broadcaster.
NBN finished the week with 5 of the Top 10 programs in Newcastle, including the top 4, Prime only had 4 despite the Olympics, while SC TEN had 1.
Overall Prime won the week and the fortnight but NBN minimised the damage. Today television viewing returns to normal programming and Prime will be looking for a post-Olympics kick with a spate of new programs launching.

Newcastle TV ratings week 33, 2008
Prime has enjoyed a massive Olympics ratings boost for the first week of their Beijing coverage winning their first Newcastle TV ratings in 4 years.
The first week of competition saw prime gain a commanding 11 point lead over NBN, while Southern Cross TEN was another 11 points further back.
NBN's news proved to be too irresistible, however, for local viewers who switched over each night in large numbers. This would be a concern to Prime who would be hoping the Olympic coverage introduces more viewers to their news and upcoming programs. If they won't even stay around for the news during the Olympics, how will they stay when its all over?
Newcastle TV ratings week 32, 2008
Prime received a late week boost when the Beijing Olympics kicked off on Friday night. The Opening Ceremony and Day One coverage boosted Prime's figure to their highest week result thus far in 2008, but still 8 points down leader NBN.
Amazingly, the most spectacular Opening Ceremony in Olympic history failed to win the ratings week, possibly due to the late start.
Southern Cross TEN look set to have a bad Olympics month with their audience plummeting to 14.4, their lowest 2008 result.
It will be interesting to watch the figures over the next two weeks, with Prime expected to win their first week of 2008 while the Aussies are racing in the pool. Week two of the Games could see the numbers back off though, and NBN will be ecstatic if they can limit the damage.
Newcastle Television Ratings week 31, 2008
NBN had another strong week with 9 of the top 10 programs in Newcastle, half of which pulled audiences in excess of 100,000.
Prime improved on recent weeks but was still 10 points behind in second place. They would be encouraged by the resurgence of their Aussie product with 8 of their best programs being local.
Southern Cross TEN had a shocker, being pipped by ABC to end up in fourth place in Newcastle.
Newcastle TV ratings week 30, 2008
Normal transmission returned to Newcastle TV viewing last week with Prime back in front of SC Ten and NBN way out in front as usual.
After a few weeks of SC TEN upsetting Prime's normal second place standing, the ratings numbers fell back into their traditional order for week 30. The biggest surprise of the week was the massive Sunday night audience for NBN News when 143,000 viewers tuned in.
